I. THE STRUCTURE OF THE EARTH
The earth is made up of several concentric layers which differ in thickness and composition.
A. Core
It is a mass of solid rock which
is under great pressure, and is
at a very high temperature.
It is composed of heavy materials Tron and nickel.
B. Mantic
The inside of mantle 15 solid and the outside is semi-liquid of plastic.
It is mainly made up magnesium and silica.
C. Crust

It varies in thickness, but is thickest under. the major

of the contine its and thinnest under the oceans. It has two distinct Tayes:
1) The continental crust
It is made up of less dense rock, mostly granites and Sedimentary rocks. This rack material is rich in silicon and aluminium. Hence, it is called the sial.
2) The oceanic crust
It is made Up of darker baselt rocks with a slightly higher density. Insrock material is rich in silicon and magnesium. Hence, it is called sima.
