: Today we take a look at a type of. question which has been set twice in Paper III of the past four years. This is tlie:what is called *transformation of 'sentences You are given several: sentences. For each one, there is an instruction in brackets telling you how to rewrite the given, sentence. Some- times the first few words of the re- written sentence have been given: Remember to keep the meaning of the original sentences as far as possible, and make only changes which are necessary:
I'm sure all of you have come across this type of question during your preparation for the Certificate Exams.
| So a few.hints here are sufficient..
a)
During the rewriting process, keep
the meaning of the original sen- tences as far as possible.
(b) Remember. to follow the instruc tions given in brackets in full.
c) Unnecessary changes may alter the
...meaning of the sentences and hence.
will be penalised
d) However, additional changes which are justified on the grammatical or idiomatic basis should be made.
Read through your rewritten sen-. tences and make sure they are. accurate and fluent.
