am deeply honoured by the Organizing Committee's invitation to be the Honorary Patron of the "Kwun Tong Today project. Kwun Tong has had a thriving and industrious community for many years but the Kwun Tong Today project carries with it a message to the outside. It announces that we
a mature community, proud of our district, for all its faults and shortcomings, and that we as a community, will strive to improve it and the lives of all who live here”. It is a fine message and it is one with which all the many Government departments working in Kwun Tong would wish to be associated.
The project is much the largest attempted here so far,'and does great credit to the many district leaders from industry, com- merce, educational, and social sectors as well as to the Government departments taking part. I am sure that it will project to all those who attend the various activities and to the rest of Hong Hong
clear image of Kwun Tong and its hopes for the future.
Finally, I wish the Organizing Committee and all who have contributed to the project every success on the occasion.

承蒙籌備委員會邀請本人擔任「今日觀塘』雙週名譽 贊助人,至感欣幸。觀塘區居民朝氣勃勃,勤奮不懈 早 負盛名 『今日觀塘」雙週正要向外表揚一種精神 重點 就是『觀塘是一個成熟的社區,縱然區內並非十全十美, 我們仍以本區為榮,整個社區上下,將努力改善本區及區 內居民的生活。』這種精神實在可嘉,所有在觀塘區的政 府部門也會樂於本着這種精神服務。
·今日觀塘』雙週可算是觀塘區舉辦的同類活動中規 模最大的一次,共襄其事的各界人士,不論是工商界、教 育界和社會社會服務方面的社區領袖或政府部門,都感到 無限光榮。本人深信,所有前來參加各項節目的人士及本 港其他角落的居民,可從這次活動中,清楚地認識觀塘區 的面貌和該區對將來的展望,
