Exchange is defined as, the economic activity of transferring the ownership of a certain commodity or providing a service from one person to another, while getting something in return, which may be money, goods,
services, or anything else.
Exchange is necessary for any society which has scarce resources. Each country usually speciallises in certain lines of production in which it has comparative advantages, and uses them to exchange for other
commodities from other nations.
Exchange is also
necessary for an individual
for he or she cannot produce
all commodities needed for
consumption.

money, exchange is
facilitated and widened.
9. Prices.
A.The price of a commodity is the sum of money which a person pays to a sellerin
order to obtain the ownership of the commodity. -Thus, the
of a certain price. commodity its value in exchange, since the latter is usually affected by the market demand and supply: conditions. The higher the marginal utility of a- commodity, the higher its
value in exchange will be 10. Utility and Demand utility
Utility is defined as the level of satisfaction derived from the consumption of a commodity.
The measurement of utility is very subjective. It can't be used for interpersonal comparison of the satisfaction derived from the consumption of the same commodity, for different persous may derive different amount satisfaction from the:

For each commodity, there are two kinds of value, which are known as value in use' and 'value in exchange'
The value in use' of a commodity is the total utility which it yields as it is used. It reflects the usefulness.of the commodity * The value in exchange of a commodity is the quantity of some other commodity for which the commodity can be exchanged. Thus, the exchange value of
commodity can be expressed in terms of units of some other commodity. It also cau be expressed in terms of money, and is therefore called price..
