ment were to raise the sala-. ries tax, the following econo- mic consequences would result. (1)In general, disposable in- come of the economy would fall, discouraging the aggres gate demand for goods and ser- vices produced locally and imported from foreign countries. As a result, consumer demand would decrease.
(2)There would be disincentive for high-paid vorkers to make improvement, while the low-

income workers would have to work harder in order to main- tain the same level of living
