The 2 streams Tsing Lung Tau (T) and Sham Tseng (S)
flowing into the sea wara. before river capture occur- red. Stream S has a tribu- tary which flows from NW to SE to the sea.
Headward erosion occurred in the tributary of stream S because of its steeper gradient. The tributary comes nearer and nearer to stream T. Finally, atream a breaks through the watershed then river capture takes place. The upper part of atream T flows into the val- ley of stream 6.

the contour map.
Stream T now has little water in the valley of its
lower course. It becomes a misfit stream. Beside the albow of capture there is a gap known as a wind gap or a. dry gap. Stream 'S now has much more water than before now. That is why erosion is more active in atream S and downcutting of its valley happens again. V-shaped, val- ley or gorge will be formed at last..
