English (21)

(#→)

As the purpose or these

lessons is for revision, our aim

must be the Examination. The.

Examiner wants to test your vocabulary by asking you to give a synonym for a word, which means a word that is similar in meaning English is very rich in synonyms.

If we look up "clever" in th dictionary, we find "adroit". "dexterous", "skilful "talented' and ingenious", all given as synonyms. But, we must not think that we can use one in place of another in every case. A "talent- ed" pianist is one who is bor with a special aptitude for the piano. He need not necessarily be an ingenious or dexterous one.

Words almost never mean exactly the same thing. A good writer would have a wide range of vocabulary and so could choose the exact word to use for each Case. You should build up your vocabulary gradually, slowly but carefully increasing your know- ledge of synonyms.
