There are daily and weekly papers... The first
newspaper that we know about was published a long time ago. It was published far away from here, in Rome. The Romes called it Daily: ivents. This paper was written instead of printed. If there had been a battle or a fire, the newspaper told about it. only a few people had copies of Daily Events. People who could. not afford to buy the paper read the copy which was posted in some public place. In this way
the Romes found out what was happening-
The first newspaper in England was not at all like our newspapers to-day. It was not so Large. It was just a sheet of paper floded down the middle. This was called a news-book. Some men made their living by writing news-letters. These were simply Betters full of news. These kinds of newspapers were published only once in a while, Our newspapers to-day are larger tha the first newspapers. They do not cost so much.
