instead of scales; the bones are hollow, and these redupe the density of the body, (iv) The fore-limbs are modified into winge
With feathers which are light and strong and constructed to facilitate flight. The small feathers are very good insulators by virtue of the layer of air which they entrap, and so they help to keep up body temperature.
(v) The joints of the skull are entirely

(vi) The third syelid plays an important
part in protection of the eye whilsy the bird is in flight.
(vii) The lungs are well developed, and
connected with them are air-sacs- which extend along the body bavity and into some of the bones.
Adaptative structures for the fish are:-% (1) Ita body is stream-lined to minimize
-the friction which caused by water wher
the fish is in swimming.
(ii) It is clothed in scales which help the
internal skeleton in maintaining the shape of the body and protect it from

food-content is thus appreciable. This 18 important to ensure the survival of the seedling during its free-living stage v) The stem is thread-like and twine's round

Diagram to illustrate knee jerk. Note that patellar ligament is tendon of extensor muscle and is attached to the tibie below knee.
IBRARIES.
The knee jerking is a common example or reflex actions. When one lets the lower lega hang free, as by sitting on the edge of a Shair, striking the patellar ligament just below the knee cap causes the lower lag extended and the foot to be kicked forward. The phasic contraction is known as the knes jerk. The whole process of this reflex action is that the extensor (the muscle) for raising. the leg is stimulated when the patellar ligament is tapped, such a stimulus pass through a reflex centre (reflex arc) along the afferent fibre to the spinal cord and back along the efferent-fibre, thus causing the muscle to contract.
b) Voluntary action
A coluntary action is associated wit activity of the cerebrum, or cerebral hemispheres. The spinal cord in this response) acts as a bridge for the transmission of impulses from the receptors to the brain.j e.g. we begin or stop the action of a skeletal muscle of a limb,
Reflex action
A reflex action is a rapid and mechanical response that takes place when a certain external stimulus is received; indeed, reflex, may take place without the individual being conscious of it, as, e.g. the constriction of the pupil in a bright light.
