is reflected. Echoes are the results of reflection of these sound waves, Due to the persistence of sound in our ears, a diatirici scho cannot be heard unless the reflecting murface is more than 55 feet from the source of sound.
When the reflecting surface is less than this distance the echo follows so closely with the direct sound wave that they cannot be distinguished as separate sounds. It merely Impresses as a prolonged sound. This effect is known as reverberation.
