I have the honor to inform you that I proceeded up the Muar river in H.M. Gun Boats "Alecto", "Clown", "Woodcock", and "Drake", and Furnace "Chesapeake" and "Centaur", accompanied by Mr. Caldwell, Registrar General, on the evening of the 22nd instant. Nr 937, 945, and 954.
I have to report that we had action with the fleet of 9 Junks said to be under the command of Rear Admiral and Commander-in-Chief on the 22nd and 23rd of December.
