G. 69 document reported that Mr. Ausley represented himself as the Attorney General of the Colony. Mr. Mitchell has given a statement by which it may appear that Mr. Ausley's words may have been misunderstood, and the matter is a trifling one after all. But Mr. Mitchell was plainly the proper person to address for information on this point, as he was the presiding Magistrate and responsible for what took place in his own court. I have to state that in every communication addressed to the Government since Mr. Ausley's suspension, he has affixed A.G. to his signature.

11. The accusation of perjury against Dr. Bridges is but one of the groundless vituperations in which Mr. Ausley is prone to indulge.

12. I need hardly say I acquit, and the Caldwell Commission acquitted, Dr. Bridges of any blame in giving directions for the destruction of the Mah-Chow Wong papers so often referred to.
