MARINE COURT CASES.

Three masters of cargo boats word summoned for causing an còstric tion at the Government Slipway, An additional" charge Yaumati. was brought against the third de- fendant for failing to stop when called upon to do so by the police.

All three pleaded guilty and were each fined 83 or 3 days" on the first charge and a further fine of $20 was imposed on the third de fendant on the second charge.

Making Fast Too Soon. Three masters of steam launches were before the Hon. Comdr. G. F: Hole, R.N., for making fast to the Takliwa whilst the vessel was underway, thereby causing an ob struction. The first two accused pleaded guilty but the third de- fondant said he was not guilty. "

A police officer said that at about 4.30 p.m. on the 25th inst the Taklive wis going alongside, the 5,620 whart and was still under way when the defendant's launch was seen to make fast to the vessel with a cargo boat in spite of protests from the master of the vessel. Wit- nees also told the accused to clear off but no notice was taken.

In answer to a question by the Magistrate the defendant said his was the third boat to make fast to the vessel. *7.353

The first defendant was fined 89) 35-7,358 or two weeks as he had a previous conviction against hire and His Worship remarked that as the second, accused had a clean record he would regard his offence more leniently and a hue of 10 or one week was imposed. As regards the third defendans his offence was the, more serious because he ignored the orders of the police, he was therefore fined 830 or three weeks.
