Saturday night's boxing tournament. under the aegis of the Hong Kong Boxing Association, held at Lee Theatre was rather disappointing on the whole. The main bout between afaripe Fraser and Whitey Boberts, of the U.S.Si Black Hark, was below par. Neither contestants showed much ring-craft and it was just ä random, slogging affair. Fraser was able to take his medicine better than his opponent and was declared the winner after an uneventful 12 rounds scrap. A daw yould have been a more popular verdict

were evenly matched, in weight and height. It was a thrilling affair right from the start. Neither gave the other a moment's bocathing space. Both contestanti packed a sledge-haminer blow and used it with telling effects. Davies was the more aggressiva of the two, and won a well-deserved decision.
I suggest that Daris, in the text tournament, be matched against L. S. Hall in the light weight class. The latter, is only four pounds heavier, and Davies would give him a sterling fight. Hall is wicked in his deliveries and Daries is a dare-devil, so the combinatich would undoubtedly be one that local boxing fans would give much ti sec.

GROWING INTEREST IN WINTER SPORTS.
[BY ARTHUR RANSOME]
There is nothing in the aspect of Moscow to suggest to a visitor that the enforced departure of Trotsky, Radek, and others marked a turn- ing-point in the revolution. There is much to suggest that Europeau estimates of the meaning of those Expulsions were wrong. Those, for example, who thought that Stalin- bad turned out Trotsky in order himself to be a good bourgeois were letting their hopes outrun their judgment. In time-honoured fashion the Bolsheviks have obliterated the Opposition while adopting whatever they thought, useful from the Op- position programme. The result is that such political movement as there has been is towards the Left, not the Right. In general, it is clear that the suppression of the Opposition was not so much the suppression of their opinions as the suppression of their methods of pro- paganda,
