HONGKONG SHIPPING.

WEEK-END ARRIVALS AND

FREIGHTS.

Notwithstanding a large number of Sarrivals during the 48 hours ended at 9 a.m., yesterday, the week-end freight return was below the average. The total amount of general cargo brought into the Colony on Sunday was 7,733 out of which, 6,357 tons were carried by British vessels. Yesterday's freight return showed only 6,863 tons general cargo imparted, out of this figure, 4,400 were conveyed by British boata.

Sapo, from Dairen and Canton, ly ing at buoy No. C40,-Kai. Yue," Escondido, Norwegian str., 937 tons, Capt. W. O. Nilsen, from Bangkok nod Kohaichang, with rice and gene ral cargo, lying at buoy No. C1 Chin Seng. Liangehow, British str. 1,990 tons. Capt. CH. Jones, from Canton, lying at buoy No. 89.-B. & S.

November 8th. Cherihon Maru, Japanese str., 2312 tons. Capt. K. Yasui, from Kobe and Karatsu. The latter part she left on November 3rd, with a carge of coal, lying at buoy Nor A10-Nanyo Yusen Kaishu. Empress of Busain, British str., 8,799 tone, Capt. A. J. Hosken, from Manila, which port she left on Nov. 5th, with a general cargo, lying at Kowloon Whart.-C. P.S.; Ltd.

Hydrangea, Brisiah att., 360 tons, Capt R. Elvidge, from Kwang Chow Wan, with a general cargo, lying at Chiu On Wharf.-Chiu On S.S. Co. Seiyo Maru, Japanese str., 4.770 tons, Capt. R. Matsui, from Moji, which port she left on November 2nd, with 230 tons of general cargo, leing at Kowloon Whari.-Y. Y.K, Soochow British str., 1.694 tons, Capt. J. W. Lamont, from Canton, lying at buoy No. BIL-B & S. Tjileboet, Dutch str., 3,033 tons. Capt P. Abbo, from Balikpapan, which port she left on November 2nd, with sugar and general cargo, lying at buoy No. 48.-J.C.J.L.

SHIPPING MOVEMENTS.

The R.M.S. Empress of Canada, left Yokohama last Saturday afternoon, and is due at Vancouver on November 14th.

The B.I. 8.8. Talamba left Singapore for this port on the 7th inst., and is due here on the 12th instant, at about 7

a.m.

The P&O 5.3. Delta left Singapore for this port on the 7th inst. at 4 p.m., with the outward English mails, and is due her on the 12th inst. at about 6

m

The P. O. 8. Nellore leit Singa pore for this port on the 7th inst.. at sam, and is due here on the 13th inst. at about & a.m.'

Them.v. Furmuna (Swedish) East Asiatic Lo., Ltd.), leit. Antwerp on the 5th inst, and is due here on or about December 13th.

PASSENGERS,

ARRIVALS.

On the other hand cargo for ports be yond continued to be good. Sunday's return showed 16,518 tons of general merchandise on board ships passing through Hongkong 3,025 tons were on board British vessels, and one Danish boat carried 8,700 tons. Yesterday's re- turn showed that two Japanese steamers had on board 8,437 tons of general cargo for ports beyond.

During the 49 hours ended at 9 am yesterday, 20 vessels arrived, and 23 de- parted, the nationalities being British, arrivals And departures; Japanese, 4 arrivals and 6 departures: Norwegian. 1

arrival; Chinese, arrivals and de- partures; Danish, 1 arrival and de pasture; French, 1 arrival and I de parture: German, 1 departure; American,

arrival and 9 departures: Italian, I arrival and 1 departure.

AD .m. yesterday, there were 66 vessels in the harbour, the nationalities being British 19: American 1; Norwegian 4; German 1; Portuguese 3; Japanese 3; Chinese 14; Dutch 5; French 3;

Panama 1.

SHIPPING NOTES.

The s. Aria, a Danish vessel, arrived here on Saturday, with 8,700 tons of zeneral cargo for ports beyond, and the P&O Hipore, brought 1,000 tons coal and 307 tons of general merchandise for Hongkong. She also carried 2.696 tons general freights for other ports.-

For causing an obstruction in the fairway, while lying at anchor, a trading junk master was fxed 810 or ten days' hard labour in default, by Lieut.-Comdr. G. F. Hole, R. N., at the Maring Court, yesterday,

On enquiry at the local offices of the Dollar Line yesterday with regard to the grounding of the s.s. President Hurrison, as reported in yesterday's Daily Press, we were informed that the only in formation received locally was that the liner had been successfully refloated, had SAN FRANCISCO via Shanghai, Japan Ports & Honolulu. received very little damage, and had returned to Shanghai for repairs. The heat office were informed that the liner would, in consequence, be a couple of says late in reaching Hongkong.
