HONGKONG SHIPPING.
LOW RETURNS PREDOMINATE. SLIGHT INCREASE. BUT ALL FOR
PORTS BEYOND.
The low freight figures which have predominated during the last few days were again in evidenes in yesterday's shipping statement. True, there was an increase on the total freight recorded in the statement, but it only affected the carge for ports beyond. There was one less arrival than on the previous day. but tonnage increased by over 12,000 tons. This, did not affect the cargo returna, however for Hongkong freight decreased by over 2,000 tons, while that for ports. beyond went up by 5,000 tons.
TONNAGE AND NATIONALITIES.
The tonnage Egures were as under- Total: 91,323 tons; British ressels: 3,041 tons; Other vessels: 18.279 tons..
An.. yesterday there were 48 vessels in the harbour, of which 4 were British, During the previous twenty- four hours six vessels arrived, ris, two British, one French, one American, one German and one Japanese. The depar- tures during the same period numbered Chinese for Sha U Chung, one French fer. Kwang Chow Wan, one British and one American for San Francisco, one Dutch for Montok, the British for Wei one British for Amoy. haiwei and Clearances came to three, viz., one British for Amoy, one British for Kwang Chow Wan and one French for Haiphong.

SHIPPING NOTES.
At the Marine Court yesterday, before Lieutenant-Commander G. F. Hole, R.N.. a junk master was fined $5, with the alternative of five days hard labour in default, for anchoring his boat in the cable reserve off the Kowloon Rail- way Pier. He pleaded guilty.
The total number of deck passengers entered for the twenty-four hours ended at 9 a.. yesterday was 513, of which the 8.8 Sinking (British) from Shanghai and Amoy, carried 112, and the s.& President Pierce (American) from.

The Hin Wong is at present under. going repairs at the Kwong Fook Cheung shipyard at Cheung Sha Wan; while the Ding Oh is being repaired in the Ewong Tak Cheung shipyard.
