322. No further leakage was experienced from the tunnel carrying water from the Tai Lam Chung Reservoir.

Tsuen Wan Supply

323. Laying of mains continued as an extension to the distribution system and mains in Industrial Zone I were completed as far as road formation permitted.

Castle Peak and Yuen Long Supply

324. The 8" main supplying the Castle Peak area laid in 1958/59 was brought into full commission, and completion of the pumping station at Lam Tei enabled water from Tai Lam Chung to be supplied to Yuen Long.

Kwun Tong Development Stages I and II and Housing Zone I

325. Mains and sub-mains were laid as necessary.

Tai Lam Chung Scheme

326. Notes on this scheme are given in the Construction Section of this report.

327. A new 30" main was commenced to enable water from Jubilee Reservoir to be filtered at Tsuen Wan as an alternative to water from Tai Lam Chung.

Waterworks Staff Quarters

328. New quarters were erected at Pok Fu Lam Filters and all design work completed for new quarters at Elliot Pumping Station. Quarters were also incorporated in the design of pump houses built at Cheung Sha Wan and Lam Tei.

Supplies to Resettlement Estates

329. Satisfactory supplies were maintained and considerable progress made with the problem of providing salt water for flushing described in more detail in the Construction Section of this report.

Fluoridation

330. Equipment arrived and installation commenced at all thirteen filter stations. Damage in transit was sustained by some of the specialized electrical equipment and delay in effecting the necessary repairs held up completion.
