APPENDIX 7—Contd

‘And now, before I unveil the plaque, I should like to take this opportunity of referring to the very valuable services which Mr BARON has given to the Colony in a number of capac- ities, but particularly during his last eight years as Director of Social Welfare.

'He has immersed himself in this complex and most difficult task with dedication and onergy; and during his period in office the social services generally have expanded their horizons and progressed both in size and in scope to a remarkable degree.

'He will be leaving us quite soon, and you would all, I know, wish to join me in expressing our thanks to him for all he has done and wishing him and Mrs BARON well for the future.

"These Community Centres, in particular, owe much to his persistence and vision: and will be a fitting tribute to his work as Director. I am glad that this Centre will have been opened before he leaves us, and that he will have seen it come to fruition.

'I am very glad to be here to open it this afternoon, by unveiling the plaque."
