WHEREAS it is expedient to extend the Operation of Section Preamble.

portation and Storage of explosive Substances other than Gunpowder: Be it enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-

I. The Provisions of Ordinance No. 1 of 1848 and the Provisions Extension of of Ordinance No. 4 of 1867 shall be construed and applied as if Ordinances

HEREAS it is expedient to make Provisions for the Licensing Preamble.

the Colony of Hongkong: Be it therefore enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof,

as follows:-

I. This Ordinance may be cited as "The Brokers' Ordinance, Short Title. 1872."

II. From and after the Passing and coming into Operation of No Person to this Ordinance no Person shall act as or carry on the Trade or act as a Broker without having Occupation of a Broker (other than an Emigration Passage Broker obtained a under Ordinance No. 2 of 1857) within the Colony of Hongkong, License. unless such Person shall have obtained a License as hereinafter provided, and unless such License shall be then in Force.

III. It shall be lawful for the Governor in Council to grant a Governor in License (in the Form given in Schedule A hereto) under his Hand Council may and Seal of the Colony to any Person applying for the same to carry on the Trade or Occupation of a Broker, upon being satisfied (1) by the Certificate of Two Householders (in the Form given in Schedule B hereto) that the Applicant is a fit and proper Person to receive such License; (2) that the said Applicant has paid into the Colonial Treasury an Admission Fee of Dollars ; and (3) that the said Applicant has made and signed before the Colonial Secretary a Declaration (in the Form given in Schedule Chereto).

IV. Every such License as aforesaid shall in Addition to the License to be and subject to au said Admission Fee be subject to an Annual Fee of Dollars such Annual Fee shall be and become payable at the Office of the Annual Fee. Colonial Treasurer on or before the 31st Day of December in every Year, and every License upon which such Annual Fee has not been duly paid may (at his Discretion) be forfeited by the Governor in Council.
