PROCLAMATION.

By His Excellency Major-General WILLIAM GORDON CAMERON, Companion of the Most Honour- able Order of the Bath, Officer Administering the Government and Commander-in-Chief of the Colony of Hongkong and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same.

Whereas by section 24 of Ordinance 22 of 1887, entitled-An Ordinance for the better regulating of the trade in Opium, it is enacted that:-

"This Ordinance shall come into operation on a day to be proclaimed by the Governor Now, therefore, I, Major-General WILLIAM GORDON CAMERON, Officer Administering the Govern- ment of the Colony of Hongkong and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same, in pursuance of the said section and by virtue of the authority in me vested, do hereby under my hand proclaim that the said Ordinance shall come into operation on and after the First day of June, 1887.
