On the 21st at 12.30 p.m.- The barometer has risen in Hongkong and Formosa, aud fallen over S. Japan and the Philippines. The typhoon probably reached the coast last night in the neighbourhood of Hainan. This morning there are indications of a new depression to the S.E. of Luzon. Pressure is highest over E. Japan. Gradients are slight over the China Coast except in the West." Forecast :-" E. winds, moderate; fair."

On the 22nd at 12.10 p m.- The barometer has fallen quickly at Manila, and it has also commenced to fall over S. China and Formosa. The typhoon has entered the China Sea and is now to the West of Manila. It will probably move at first towards W.N.W.. and later towards N.W. Pressure is highest over N.E. Japan in the East, and over Central China in the West. Bad weather may be expected over the China Sea." Forecast:- "N.E. winds, freshening; weather again becoming squally and unsettled.”

On the 23rd at 7.40 a. -Orders issued to hoist the Red Cone point downwards (typhoon S. of Colony distant more than 300 miles.) At 11.45 a. "The barometer has fallen slightly in Hongkong, and risen over Luzon and N. China. The typhoon is probably situated to the Eastward of the Paracels. It appears to be moving towards N.W. Pressure is highest over N. China. Bad weather will continue over the China Sea." Forecast:- "N.E. to E. winds, molerate to fresh gale; squally, showery."

On the 24th at 5.30 a.m.-Signal lowered. At 12.5 p.-"The barometer has risen over S. China and the Philippines. The typhoon has probably moved up the Gulf of Tong- Weather king. Gradients are slight on the Coast between Hongkong and N. China. improving over the China Sea." Forecast :-“ E. winds, fresh to moderate; showery."

On the 25th at 10.55 a. "The barometer has commenced to fall again over the Philippines. This may be due to a depression as yet far out in the Pacific. Över E. Japan the barometer has fallen, probably owing to the existence of a depression over the N. part of the Sea of Japan. An anticyclonic area seems to be spreading over N. China from the N. W., a considerable increase of pressure having taken place at Weihaiwei. Strong N.E. monsoon is expected to set down the China Coast." Forecast:-"E. to N.E. winds, moderate to fresh; fair."

On the 26th at 11.40 a.- The barometer has fallen considerably over the Philippines and risen over N. China. It is inclined to fall in Hongkong. The depression noted yester- day morning is a typhoon. It is now situated to the E. of Luzon, and probably moving Westward at present.

On the 27th at 11.5 a.-"The barometer has fallen generally, particularly in Manila where the decrease of pressure exceeds 0.3 inch. The typhoon is crossing Luzon to the North of Manila. The typhoon is situated to the N.W. of Luzon. It is moving towards W.N.W. at present. Pressure remains high over N China, and gradients are steep over the whole of the China Coast to the South of Shanghai. Bad weather will continue in the Formosa Channel and over the China Sea." Forecast:-
