ASHIZURI-ZAKI LIGHTHOUSE TO BE SHOWN.

NOTICE is hereby given that, the Newly Established Ashizuri-zaki Lighthouse on Ashi- zuri-zaki, Province of Tosa, will be shown as follows on and after the 1st of April, 1914 :-

Position:-Lat. 32° 43′ N., and Long. 133° 1′ E. (According to the Japanese

Admiralty Chart No. 108.)

Description:-Octagonal concrete tower, painted white.

Height of light :-40 shaku from the base; 187 shaku above the water.

Character of light :-Fourth order group flashing white, showing triple flash in quick succession during twelve (12) seconds, followed by an eclipse of eighteen (18) seconds.

Illuminated arc-An Arc 243, from S. 25° W., through W. and N., to N. 88° E.

(Magnetic bearings taken from seaward.)

Candle power :--30,000.

Visible distance : 20 nautical miles in clear night.

Experimental Submarine Bell Buoy Established.

NOTICE is hereby given that an experimental Submarine Bell Buoy, painted red, has been established on the eastern side of Steep Island Pass. From the Buoy, the summit of the 98-foot Island, Palmer Islands, bears N. 32° W., magnetic, distant 2 cables.

The Bell is operated by the motion of the Buoy on the waves.
