TOP MURET AND
1 February, 1968.
I enclose for your information copies Nos. 1 and 2 of an Aide Komodre on Buergency invacuation of Bong Kong, We should be grateful if you would pass Copy No. 2 to the Commander British Forces.
This sets cut decisions recently reached by Ministers here. You will note that all evacuation planning is thereby indefinitely suspended. We also, however, have under consideration a very ligited
exercise in the United Kingdom somewhat on the lines you describe in your letter T8X 1/60 of 13 Jamary to Carter and we shall be writing to you again about the matters you have raised as soon as possible.

SIR DAVID TRENCH, K.G.H.G., X.C.
