New China News Agency item 012327 datelined Hong Kong 3rd January, describes a meeting of representatives of Chinese compatriots of All Circles in Macao on 21st January. The conclusion was that: "if the Portuguese authorities in Macao do not give a satisfactory reply in the shortest period we will immediately take sanctions against them and they must be held fully responsible for all the consequences",
•
2. The same item refers to meetings of various left wing organisations in Macao during the last few days at which it was stated that "it was absolutely impermissible for the Portuguese Imperialists in Macao to attempt to bring in U.S. and British Imperialism and for the Chiang Kai Shek bandit clique to meddle in the affairs of Macao". This point is made in a separate article in the Hong Kong Wen Wei Pao on 24th January.
3. The Hong Kong left wing press of 24th January reports that Leung Pui, and the 13-man All Circles Delegation, called on the Governor of Macao last night at 8.30 and returned to him as unsatisfactory the Portuguese version of the latest draft reply.
